dbda wins prestigious youth award for Nationwide Education

dbda is delighted to announce winning a further award for Nationwide Education, the free, online, educational resource specially developed for Nationwide Building Society. dbda has been awarded the Children & Young People Now (CYPN) 2009 Financial Capability Award, sponsored by the Financial Services Authority (FSA).

The CYPN 2009 Awards, in association with the Children's Workforce Development Council, recognise and celebrate the innovative and inspiring initiatives taking place across the UK. This year the event was opened by the Children's Secretary, Ed Balls who made a keynote speech.

The Financial Capability programmes have been identified as examples of excellence in successfully helping children and young people make sense of money through improving knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes to money matters.

Nationwide is committed to financial education and the importance this plays in the UK education curriculum. The pfeg-accredited Financial Capability programme is aimed at 4 – 18 year olds, and is designed to stimulate learning and build important life skills, as well as boosting confidence and knowledge in tackling the areas of financial understanding, financial competence and financial responsibility.

Dawn Boyfield MBE, managing director at dbda commented: "dbda and Nationwide are particularly pleased as the award was sponsored by the FSA. We understand the importance of children and young people gaining personal finance education which they can integrate into their everyday lives so that they feel confident when dealing with financial matters. We are dedicated to supporting this education by providing powerful and effective tools, which help get serious messages across in an engaging and stimulating way."
