M&S launches online interactive quiz developed by dbda
dbda has created four online interactive quiz challenges for the education section 'Learn More' of the Marks in Time website - an online experience of Marks & Spencers' 125 year celebrations.
All materials have been designed specifically for use on interactive whiteboards in schools and PCs and combine the use of fun, engaging fact sheets and activities.
Aimed at 7-11 and 12-14 year olds and their teachers, each of the four challenges relate to the downloadable fact sheets and activities in the 'Learn more' section of the site. The quizzes are in the style of timelines that explore four main themes including:
Clothing - (7-11) 'Buttons and Bows';
Food - (7-11) 'Food Glorious Food';
Financial changes - (12-14) 'Don't Ask the Price, It's a Penny';
Employee welfare - (12-14) 'Quality Marks';
Pupils can work their way through each interactive challenge timeline to be the first to gain all 40 points. Each quiz identifies key moments in time from when Michael Marks set up his first market stall in 1884, rationing in the World War II to mini-skirts, convenience food and the M&S 'eco' Plan A.
Images have been taken directly from the M&S Company Archive and are used as visual stimuli to enhance pupils' knowledge of key historical eras, events and people. The interactive quiz also enables pupils to reflect on the changing needs, fashions, lifestyles and food over the last 125 years, as well as developments in company policy, science and technology.
Each of the themes is linked to the UK curricula covering the key subject areas of English, History, Art & Design and Design & Technology. In addition to these, PSHE and Citizenship (Economic Wellbeing) are covered for pupils aged 12-14 years.
