CLIC Sargent clicks with dbda
Every day 10 children and young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. Treatment normally starts immediately, which means that children could be in class one week and in hospital the next. This can be a particularly difficult time for teachers and schools as they struggle to know how best to support pupils and families.
CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children, young people, and their families, provide clinical, practical and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. They also offer support and advice to teachers and schools and have commissioned dbda to expand their range of free resources which are available to download from their website.
The new materials, which form part of CLIC’s schools provision, will include academic planners providing information about the work they do and the support they can offer, and downloadable lesson plans for 7-11 year olds, helping them to understand the roles of charities and fundraising and challenging them with activities to organise their own fundraising event.
All materials will be available to schools from late September. The free academic planners will be sent to primary schools in England and can be ordered direct from the CLIC Sargent website for schools outside of England.
