dbda designs Home Safety Activity Badge for Cub Scouts

Electricity and gas supplier National Grid, commissioned dbda to redesign and refresh the content of the Scout Association’s Home Safety Activity Badge which has been completed by over 100,000 Cub Scouts since its launch in 2007.

The new resource, sponsored by National Grid, provides a range of fun activities to help Cubs and young children learn how to keep safe at home, with a focus on spotting dangers and knowing what to do in an emergency.

“Safety is a key issue for National Grid and helping youngsters become aware of the importance of safety in their home environment is very good place to start,” said Jonathan Richardson, Education and Skills Project Lead at National Grid. “Everyone wants their home to be a safe place, but every year there are thousands of accidents that could be avoided if people followed some simple rules and advice.”

The activity pack and supporting notes for Leaders, covers a range of topics that help equip young people with practical knowledge and skills for keeping safe at home. Topics include: the safe use of gas and electricity, fire safety, common accidents in the home and how to make an emergency call.
