dbda encourages parents to keep their children safe during the summer holidays
With the summer holidays upon us, dbda is encouraging parents to remind their children about the dangers on the road and in the home.
According to a June 2010 survey on behalf of the Child Accident Prevention Trust, while almost three-quarters of parents worry about their child having a bad accident nearly half believe there is nothing they can do to stop accidents from happening.
“Accidents are often preventable. With children at home during the summer holidays, now is an imperative time for parents to speak to their children about potential dangers in order to minimise risks,” says Bharti Bhikha, Managing Director of dbda.
Speaking to children about the dangers on the road or in and around the home can be a challenging task, but the resources dbda have created for Nationwide Building Society can help. With fun interactive games and supporting materials, parents have all the information they need to pass across key messages.
For Road Safety tips, the Safer Travel programme for 4-11 year olds covers the Green Cross Code. The Be Safe, Be Seen programme complements this with fun interactive games around Cats’ Eye reflectors, and looks at how to be safe on the roads at night.
In 2010, dbda developed a series of programmes for Nationwide Education on Home Safety, covering key home hazards such as fire, poisons, sharp objects, electrical dangers and tips slips and falls. With read-aloud story books for children as young as two years, and interactive games for teenagers, there is something for every age group.
