Get your brand connected – it’s time to get social

How many businesses would pass-up the chance of raising awareness of their brand, products and services; networking with potential customers and communicating with the community at large about their values? Quite a few it seems!

Social media is a simple and inexpensive way of doing just this, with the added benefit of building longer-term relationships en route. Whilst 88%1 of marketeers see generating business exposure as the biggest benefit of social marketing, many businesses distrust social media or believe they don’t have the time to use it.

dbda works with clients guiding them through the process of integrating social media as part of their CSR brand strategy, helping them build profile, engagement and dialogue with stakeholders via their education, community and safety programmes.

‘An alarming number of brands are reluctant to use social media or are not making full-use of the fantastic tools available to them,’ said Dan Andrews, Marketing, Sales and Development Manager at dbda. ‘It provides a valuable opportunity to have a meaningful dialogue, build communities and reach a global audience. We’re using it to engage with businesses, parents, teachers and young people and see it as an integral part of a communication strategy.’

Dan’s Top Tips for making the most of social media include:

  1. Have clear objectives of what you want to achieve for your brand
  2. Create dialogue and nurture relationships with your network
  3. Make sure your message has integrity (it’s not just a sale!)
  4. Encourage participation rather than a load of ‘likes’
  5. Know your audience, some will enjoy conversation rather than chat
  6. Recommend other people’s content to keep your site relevant, fresh and your followers engaged.
